This is the site we hope all New Zealanders will come to and help us build One Big Family Tree for New Zealand. We want everyone in New Zealand to take part in this major project, because like the statement above you can work on one family and as you do it seems to trickle into more families and then it grows again into a larger tree until if we all get together it will grow into one huge NEW ZEALAND FAMILY TREE.
We would like you to send us your Family Tree Information by submitting us with a gedcom file, preferably, but we will accept Family Group Record Sheets as well and enter them into the tree as time permits. We will then merge your information with all the rest of the trees that we are being provided with along with the Cemetery and Shipping Records as well as other records that are publicly availalable to us that we are transcribing and adding to the site. Remember it is likely that others will also be working on some of the same lines as yours and you could find new relatives.
We have struggled for years now to get this site up and running as we wanted it done and in the past many people who said they could help only found they couldn't. All this takes up precious time and then we finally thought we had everything going smoothly till one day a particular person wouldn't reply to e-mails, etc. and instead did a runner with our money and we haven't seen him to this day.
We have not only found a site finally that will house our large New Zealand Family Tree where as many people as we want to invite can help us to make additions and corrections where necessary, but we have also found a wonderful person who has the server space to house this website as well. He has been working very hard to put this together for us to continue and once we take this one live [as we are transferring it from Storesonline which was rather limited in what we could do with it].
